We partner with major AAA teams to ship real-time content. Senior, hands-on, fully remote.

The Role

Own the finishing of client-approved proxies into final, game-ready characters and environments at AAA shipping quality. You’ll supervise 3 character pods and 1 environment pod, set the bar, keep output consistent, and act as the primary art contact for the client.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead pods: Assign work, unblock artists, keep cadence and quality across characters and environments.

  • Finish assets: Topology/UV cleanup, baking, PBR texturing/materials, LODs, collisions/lightmaps (env), and clean handoff for skin weighting (chars).

  • Reviews: Run dailies, give concise notes/paintovers, and drive assets through gates (Blockout → HP/LP → Bake → Texture → In-Engine → Final).

  • In-engine checks (Unreal): Validate materials/master instancing, scale, LODs, and performance.

  • Budgets & performance: Keep to tri/material/texture/memory targets; manage LOD strategy.

  • Client interface: Gather feedback, control scope, surface risks early with options.

  • Planning: Break down tasks, estimate, track with production, and protect delivery.

Requirements
  • 7+ years in real-time 3D art; 2+ years leading artists or pods.

  • Shipped at least one AA/AAA project in a lead/key capacity.

  • Strong in Maya (or Blender/Max), ZBrush, Substance 3D; solid PBR fundamentals.

  • Confident integrating and troubleshooting in Unreal Engine.

  • Clear, direct communicator; reliable in a remote setup and across time zones.

Nice to Have
  • Depth in character finishing (deformation-aware topology/skin weighting literacy) or environment finishing (modularity, trim sheets, foliage).

  • Tooling/scripting (Python/MEL/Blueprint utilities), SpeedTree, Houdini, Marmoset.

  • Experience with ShotGrid/Jira and vendor/outsource workflows.

Portfolio

Show game-ready characters and/or environments with brief breakdowns (wireframe, map sets, tri counts, LOD notes) and in-engine captures. If we can’t see process and results, we can’t assess.

What Success Looks Like
  • Consistent first-pass approvals from the client.

  • On-time deliveries with minimal rework.

  • Assets meeting visual and performance targets in engine.
